Joined the First Presbyterian Staff as full-time Director of Music Ministry in 2006. As such, He conceives of creative and meaningful ways to integrate the language of music into all aspects of our church’s shared life in worship and fellowship, coordinating our wide array of gifts and talents into choral, vocal, and instrumental activities and offerings.

Mark has served in Music Ministry for 38 years in seven different churches. Holding degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music (B.Mus) and The Ohio State University (M.Mus; M.Arts; DMA candidate), he directed nationally recognized Choral/Vocal programs as a professor at Marietta College and Emory & Henry College spanning nearly two decades. His professional career as a leading baritone in Opera, Oratorio, and recital continues to thrive, as does his reputation as a voice teacher. Whether in the sanctuary or the concert hall, Mark sees the ultimate role of Music as uniting the human family to glorify God in a living encounter. His specialty is the development of the voice, both individually, and collectively in the paradigm of the Choir, so attuned and inspired, as to become the voice of Christ.

Mark and his wife Susan rejoice in their three grown children, Kendra, Heather, and Paul. Mark enjoys doing artwork, magic, juggling, and athletic conditioning – all which are essential in trying to keep up with his seven grandchildren.
