Bible Studies

First Presbyterian Church is fortunate to have numerous opportunities for each member to find a group with the church where they can pray and study.

One of these groups is a men’s bible study which meets weekly on Tuesday from 12:15 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. in Room 102 in the Fellowship Hall.

This self-named group is called the Knuckleheads.  It consists of about 10 men with a real interest in each others opinions.  For the most part, they try to let scripture speak to current concerns for our church, our country, friends and family and their own personal concerns and situations.

Although the demographic for this group is skewed to a retired or mature age, they welcome any man where this kind of give and take has appeal.

In addition to the study of scripture, they always include a participatory communal prayer.

If you come to visit, they will tell why they chose the name Knuckleheads.

Mid-Week Bible Study
During Lent, beginning on February 14, 2018 there will be no mid-week Bible Studies.  These will resume in April 2018.

Each week we will take a close look at something that has been in the news, and through the lens of Scripture, discover what lessons we can take from it as Christ’s disciples.  We will begin with a look at the rescue and recovery response to hurricanes Harvey and Irma.  Come with stories you heard on the news about the many ways people have jumped in to help.

Both the noon and 4:30 p.m. group will meet in the classroom in the Fellowship Center.

Ladies Evening Bible Study
Ladies Evening Bible Study has been meeting monthly for more than ten years. Our goal is Christian fellowship and Bible study.

We meet on the second Monday of each month in the Memorial Parlor of our Fellowship Hall. We begin gathering at 6:30 p.m. for fellowship and signing of cards which are sent to both members of our church and the community. This time is also used for our sharing joys, celebrations and prayer concerns with one another. At 6:50 p.m. we begin preparation for our Bible study. The ladies decide on a study for the year and are given the opportunity to purchase the study guide. We conclude by 8:00 p.m. with our Friendship Circle Prayer. We have had as many as 20 in attendance.

An invitation is extended to all ladies, no matter where you are in your faith journey. You are always welcome!

A new study of Moses will begin in September 2017.

Men’s Breakfast & Bible Study
Are you a man who likes a hearty breakfast?  We may have just what you have been seeking.

There is a monthly get-together for all the men of the church and their invited guests.  It takes place on the second Saturday of each month and starts at 8:00 a.m .  There is no charge but donations are gladly accepted.

Programs can vary, however we try to include some scripture and a Christian insight as a part of our time together.

Attendance is about 20-30.  Not too big, not too small.  Please join us for food, fellowship and inspiration.

Presbyterian Women
Presbyterian Women (PW) meet on the second Wednesday of each month September through May. The purpose of the meeting is to share in Bible Study. The meeting is held from 10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Room 102 of the Fellowship Hall. Each year a new topic of study is selected and materials are provided. All women of the church are invited to participate.

We are currently studying Hebrews.
