It has been said that a church is no stronger, no more energetic, no more faithful, no more creative, no more courageous, and no more committed than those who provide its leadership. Your Nominating Committee needs your prayerful support and suggestions to identify those whom God is calling to lead us at this crucial time when we are searching for God’s will in all aspects of our church life.

Serving as an elder or deacon is a call from God to carry out the mission and work of the church. A responsible officer is a committed Christian, knowledgeable of and committed to Presbyterian doctrine and government, and willing to be trained for more thorough knowledge. A good officer is involved in the work and worship of the church, has a cooperative spirit and can be trusted with confidential matters. He or she must be prepared for service that is sometimes time-consuming and exhausting, but always rewarding. A good officer will recognize that others will look to him or her as an exemplary Christian disciple.

The responsibilities of elders and deacons are quite different!

ELDERS, according to the Book of Order, should be persons of faith, dedication, and good judgment. Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel, both within the church and the world. Six (6) elders will be nominated for the Class of 2024 for a three-year term (January 2022 – December 2024).

It is the duty of Elders, individually and jointly, to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation committed to their charge. Together with the pastor, they should encourage the people in the worship and service of God and equip and renew them for their tasks within the church and for their mission in the world.

YOUTH ELDERS Up to two (2) will be nominated to serve a term of one year in the Class of 2022.

DEACONS, according to the Book of Order, are officers of sympathy, witness and service after the example of Jesus Christ. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, exemplary lives, brotherly love, warm sympathies and sound judgment are needed for this office. Deacons implement the Care Ministry Program of our church. Each deacon establishes and maintains contact with 10-11 households within our congregation, shares in their joys and sorrows, and encourages members of their Ministry Group to care for each other.  Nine (9) deacons will be nominated for a two-year term, Class of 2023 (January 2022 – December 2023).
