Children in Worship

Children’s Sermon
Our church offers two worship services: one at 8:45 a.m. and the other at 11:00 a.m.  Our services are relaxed and easy to understand. Our hope is that each member of the congregation finds a message or lesson they relate to, no matter their age or background.

First Presbyterian is committed to providing a nurturing environment that helps each child grow in spiritual awareness. The 11:00 a.m. service includes a Children’s Sermon, a dedicated message that is tailored to children, featuring language and concepts they can understand.  We believe that this helps to build the foundation for children as they grow in spirit and truth.  Children ages 3-5 are invited to leave the sanctuary after the Children’s Sermon to attend Children’s Church.  Children may be picked up at the conclusion of the worship service in the nursery upstairs.

Children’s Church
Children’s church is for children ages 3-5 and includes storytelling and parts of the worship service they miss. Each week a member of the congregation tells the children a story from the Spark Story Bible and leads the children in a mini-worship service. The stories follow the narrative lectionary used in worship. The goal of Children’s Church is to prepare children for regular worship. Children may be picked up at the conclusion of the worship service in the nursery upstairs.
