What is “Holy Interruption”?
Some of you noticed a new name for one of our parts of worship last week!
Last December our Space for Grace worship service began to meet weekly and part of our worship order was Holy Interruption. This name came from another PC(USA) congregation who desired to implement a more intentional sharing of the peace of Christ that didn’t feel as rushed. This new name reminded that congregation to take their time and truly enjoy each other’s presence through sharing the peace of Jesus.
The term Holy Interruption invites us to interrupt our busy lives and minds and spend a few holy minutes sharing the peace and fellowship of Jesus with each other. All too often we rush through life and this intentional time allows us to practice something different as we worship God together. We have been practicing Holy Interruption all summer as we are learning to take our time and truly enjoy each other in worship. Now that we have combined Space for Grace back into the Sanctuary this name came along with it.
