40th Anniversary
Holston Habitat for Humanity-Faith Build
Former FPC member Elizabeth Ann Hay co-founded the Holston Habitat for Humanity affiliate serving the Tri-Cities and beyond. A Faith build, three-bedroom home for three generations, Matt, his daughter and granddaughter, will take place this year in February through May at 1601 E. Sevier Avenue.
FPC Outreach Committee has committed funds for this Faith build. FPC’s work week will be Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, April 9, 11 and 12 to paint interior walls, ceiling, trim, doors. Ten FPC volunteers, if possible, will be needed each day.
How can you help? You can pray for the family and the construction workers; provide individual financial support; volunteer to help with construction; feed lunch to 15 workers including Holston Habitat “regulars” each day for three days; make something for the home; celebrate by attending the home dedication and open house. FPC youth can participate – 16–17-year-olds and 14–15-year-olds with adult supervision.

In 2025, Holston Habitat for Humanity will reach the milestone of serving 400 families since its inception. This year, First Presbyterian Church Kingsport will have built or helped build and fund more than twenty homes.

Visit this link: www.holstonhabitat.org/mattsbuild. Log in to your Giveffect account (for those who have volunteered before) or create a new account. You do NOT need Facebook to create an account. There is an option for email sign-up.
Once you have filled out your Volunteer Profile (be sure to click the button affirming you have read our Release & Waiver of Liability), it will show a list of dates to select from.

Once you enter the password, the dates of April 9 (Wed.), April 11 (Fri.) and April 12 (Sat.) will open for you to click. Finish filling out the information.
Please be aware that there are times when delays in construction are out of our control (weather, permits, inspections, etc.). The specific tasks you sign up for may change depending on these delays.
If for some reason after creating an account it does not take you to the page to sign up for a date, simply go to your Giveffect volunteer profile page, click Our Campaigns on the menu box on the left side of the screen. Then click Matt’s Build, Volunteer, and you should see the date.
*Please note that there is a 1-day registration cut off for each volunteer assignment. (Example: A volunteer assignment scheduled for Friday at 9:00am will have a registration cut off on Thursday at 9:00am.)
A week before the assignment, I’ll send out an email reminder to each volunteer with all the information they will need for the day.
